Part Lights
Same as dead leg.
Peak Load
The highest, load on an electrical system or generator, occurring during a particular period of time.
Phase
Voltage carrying conductor.
Phase Target
A visual marker or flag on the overcurrent relays indicating the relay has sensed a fault on that phase or phases.
Pool Pump & Motor Replacement Rebate Program
Southern California Edison's pool pump and motors measure in its Home Energy Efficiency Rebates program promotes the purchase and installation of single speed, two-speed and variable speed pool pump and motor technology. A list of products that qualify in each of these important categories is available at http://www.sce.com/RebatesandSavings/Residential/PoolPumpandMotor/
Positive
The point of any circuit from which the current flows. Opposite of negative.
Potential
The pressure or voltage forcing electrical current through a circuit.
Potential Link
Also known as a POT LINK. Device located in the meter to open the potential coil resulting in no disk rotation. Testing device.
Pothead
A device shaped like a pot or bell attached to the end of a cable which is used to attach the cable to a wire or overhead conductor.
Power Circuit Breaker
This breaker will open the circuit under fault or overload conditions.
Power Factor
The ratio of true power (watts) to apparent power (volts x amperes).
Power Marketer or "Seller"
An entity that takes title to electric power generated by another entity, and sells that power. A power marketer may or may not be affiliated with a traditional electric utility.
Power Source Adjustment
A source of revenue based on the efficiency/inefficiency of customer equipment.
Primary
1) Input or source side of transformer; 2) Service taken at between 2,000 and 50,000 V and at only one stage of transformation lower than the local transmission system voltage.
Primary Lines
High-voltage lines (4 kV, 6.9 W 12 kV, 16 kV, etc.) used to carry power from the substation to the immediate area to be transformed to lower voltages for individual customers.
Prime Mover
An engine, turbine, or water wheel that drives or operates an electric generator.
Purchased Power
Power purchased from other utilities.
LIFE. POWERED BY EDISON.
